A few individuals who come to your station will hold down jobs providing services. All jobs suit the peep's race, so no one is utilized in such a way that they do not like. For this, station employees get free use of all station facilities as well as occasional bonuses.
Hiring and firing peeps[]
You can hire and fire peeps from the alien interface which can be opened by right clicking on an alien.
In the alien interface you can see how much it will cost to hire the alien, its skill levels, and some mostly made-up biographical data, the only important bit of which is the Criminal Record (and it is quite important--hiring criminals can cause trouble for you unless you have a Lockdown Brig to rehabilitate them in first!). If you like what you see you can hire them by clicking on your player logo. Once you hire them, your player logo will appear above their head.
To fire a peep, right-click on a peep with your player logo above their head and left-click on the crossed out image of your player logo.
Skill, dedication and loyalty[]
Skill, dedication and loyalty are the performance ratings of a peep that will help you decide whether to hire a peep. Each rating has zero to five stars.
- Skill
- How well a peep performs at their job
- Dedication
- How long they will stay at their post, regardless of more pressing needs
- Loyalty
- How likely they are to fight for you and use your facilities instead of an opponent's.
Once hired, a peep will gain additional stars in skill, dedication and loyalty. While it can be economical to hire an alien with zero stars in everything, it will take a long time for them to max out their attributes.
Promotion[]
Every three stars gained in any attribute of Skill, Dedication and/or Loyalty they will want to be promoted and this can happen up to five times per alien depending on how many stars they had when you hired him/her/it. Promoting a peep costs energy, not promoting them causes a steady drain in their well-being, which may eventually be enough that they decide to quit and leave your station.
You can promote a peep either though their job menu or the Residents section on the peeps menu.
Stat benefits from working[]
Besides the money, peeps always get something out of the act of working. Having a job provides peace of mind and spirit.
While working, all peeps get a stat boost to their mind, body, love, fun, and soul statistics. Some even get a special racial bonus (!), a stat boost higher than all others.

This is what peeps get for working. But, you don't start a job without getting hired, you don't leave a job without getting fired (or quitting), and there is the question of promotion while on the job.
What do they do?[]
Peep | What they do | Facility | Fighter? |
---|---|---|---|
Groulien Salt Hog | Manufacture and recycle | Factory and recycler | Yes |
Grekka Targ | Communicate with passing ships | Comsensor | Yes |
Grey | Heal peeps | Sick bay | Yes |
Kasvagorian | Law enforcement | Security control | Yes |
Dahanese Siren | Love peeps | Love Nest | No |
Turakken | Research | Laboratory | No |
Karmarama | Farming | Bio deck | No |
Zedem Monk | Convert peeps and heal the soul | Temple | No |
Polvakian Gem Slug | Nothing | None | No |
I quit![]
Peeps who stay under promoted for too long may decide to quit, this can happen if their other stats get too low as well. If you can catch them before they leave then the mood elevating boost of promotion can convince them to stay, whether they deserve that promotion or not.
Combat[]
Several races can take up arms in defence of your station. They are the Gors, Salt hogs, Targ, and Greys. Gors are the best choice for soldiers, taking less damage from laser hits and Skrasher attacks, the others can help too, just don't expect a high survival rate.
